One of India's largest copper smelters stopped production for more than 50 days pushing up copper prices in India
Vedanta Resources said on Friday that it was forced to close down a copper smelter in South India, one of India's largest copper smelters, leading to a surge in Indian copper prices. South India’s copper smelters account for about 35% of India’s major copper market, mainly to the Gulf and Asian countries. The plant is currently closed for more than 50 days.
