Copper production

According to a report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global production of copper mines in 2016 was 20.66 million tons, of which, the output of Chilean copper mines was 5.57 million tons. Although it declined by about 5% year-on-year, it was still the largest copper supply in the world. In 2016, due to the impact of large-scale mines such as Las Bonbass, Peru’s copper production increased by 37% year-on-year to 2.35 million tons, surpassing that of China and the United States as the world’s second-largest copper producer.
